NEW ORLEANS — Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick flanked by her homicide detectives gave an update to the media Monday on the progress of their investigation of Sunday's mass shooting at a St. Roch second line.
Without revealing too much detail about the investigation, Superintendent Kirkpatrick did say her detectives have leads they are working on and are in the process of reviewing video of the shooting.
Kirkpatrick did confirm the total number of victims involved in the shooting has climbed to 13 which also includes the two victims killed.
“We can confirm that we had a total of 13 individuals who were um casualties from this shooting we shared last night and again, we'll confirm this morning that we had two different incidences. There were two shootings 45 minutes apart from one another. We are actively working this case,” said Chief Kirkpatrick.
“We do have leads, and we will find the perpetrators. You will be held accountable. We have worked with our local partners with the state police, and the Orleans Parish sheriff's office, all of them also provided last night extra staffing for us.”

“They were working this particular second line and yet the tragedy still occurred. These, this particular second line drew thousands of people. And as I have shared second lines as a part of our culture here in New Orleans, I have embraced every single one of the cultures of this agency or this city that is a wonderful culture,” she said.
“Second lines are a wonderful culture of this city and will continue to be so. But we have got to work together with the community to prevent any potential for violence in our second lines.”
Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans has also announced that they are offering a $5,000 reward for information that can lead to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-822-1111.
