NEW ORLEANS — Cold case detectives with the New Orleans Police Department say they have a warrant for a man they say is wanted in a 10-year-old homicide investigation.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Gordon Lewis about a homicide that occurred on January 9, 2014, in the 4500 block of South Robertson Street.
“On January 9, 2014, NOPD Second District officers responded to the call of a subject down at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male subject had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene,” said an NOPD release.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 30-year-old Michael Young and determined the cause of death to be from gunshot.
On Monday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Lewis on one count of second-degree murder.
Lewis was found to be in Louisiana Department of Corrections custody in DeQuincy, LA on unrelated charges. Lewis will be extradited to Orleans Parish to face the murder charge.
