NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department announced they arrested a man for carjacking and shooting a man in the Behrman neighborhood Monday morning.
Police say the victim was driving near Shirley Drive and General Degaulle Drive around 5:30 a.m. when he briefly stopped, and 21-year-old Charles C. Wilson III jumped into the vehicle and ordered the victim at gunpoint to drive.
Wilson then made the victim drive to the park, where he tried to take his cell phone and car keys. The victim ran away but was shot multiple times by Wilson, according to investigators.
The victim was taken to a hospital by EMS, and NOPD reported that he was in stable condition.
Wilson is charged with Armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated second-degree battery, and resisting an officer.
