NOPD: 6 arrested, weapons and ATVs confiscated

The NOPD said subjects on four-wheelers and dirt bikes were driving illegally and recklessly in the 1200 block of North Claiborne Avenue on Sunday.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department arrested six people on Sunday afternoon for illegally operating unregistered vehicles on public roads and confiscated three handguns during a proactive patrol underneath the Claiborne overpass.

According to the NOPD, First District detectives noticed several subjects on four-wheelers and dirt bikes driving illegally and recklessly in the 1200 block of North Claiborne Avenue around 4 p.m.

The six ATV operators were stopped, including one juvenile, and arrested. Three of the six were additionally charged with illegally carrying firearms.

Officers impounded five four-wheelers and one dirt bike, as well as the three handguns.

This is an ongoing investigation.
