NEW ORLEANS — In a WWL Louisiana investigation that has led to a sprawling federal investigation. On Friday, a woman accused of conspiring to kill a witness in an insurance fraud case agreed to plead guilty to a charge of witness tampering, according to our partners at Nola.com.
It's the latest update in our "Staged Accidents" series of investigations by Mike Perlstein. Jovanna Gardner was one of two people accused of conspiring to murder Cornelius Garrison back in 2020.
Garrison was a federal witness for an investigation into more than 100 staged truck accidents.
The wrecks are blamed for millions of dollars in losses and even increasing our auto insurance rates to the highest in the nation.
