Teacher assistant in New Orleans fired and arrested for child pornography

St. Andrew's Episcopal School fired Dawn Barriere, 23, and she faces seven counts of child pornography.

NEW ORLEANS —  A teacher's assistant at St. Andrew's Episcopal School was fired and arrested for child pornography.

School officials said they fired Dawn Barriere, 23, and the alleged conduct occurred during her "personal time" and no students were involved.

According to our partners at Nola.com, Barriere was arrested on Wednesday, Oct.11.

Barriere worked as a teacher's assistant at the school for more than two years. She passed a criminal background check to get the job in 2021, said Nola.com.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff Office said Barriere's bail was set at $70,000 by her. Magistrate Commissioner Jay Daniels, who set the bail on Thursday.

Representatives of Barriere did not respond for comment.
