NOPD: 8 people robbed in 4 different incidents overnight

"We do have a strong suspicion that these armed robberies were committed by the same person and are attempting to identify and locate the suspect," NOPD said.

NEW ORLEANS — At least eight people were robbed in four separate incidents overnight in the French Quarter and Marigny, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The first happened in the 700 block of Governor Nicholls St. around 7:30 p.m. An armed suspect took a man's and a woman's money and jewelry and fled the scene. 

The second robbery took place about 20 minutes later. Police said a suspect demanded money from a victim at gunpoint and fled the scene.

NOPD reported that the other two armed robberies took place in the 700 Block of Frenchman St. One took place around 10 p.m the suspect snatched a man's chain and tried to take his watch. The victim fought back, and the suspect left the scene.

The last reported robbery happened around 10:40 p.m. The suspect approached two men and two women who were walking in the area and demanded money at gunpoint. Police say one complied, and the suspect fled the scene.

It is not known at this time if the incidents are related. But police said, "We do have a strong suspicion that these armed robberies were committed by the same person and are attempting to identify and locate the suspect."

NOPD says they are actively investigating each armed robbery.
