Sound of gunshots lead to an arrest, guns and drugs seized, NOPD says

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Police Department officers investigating the sound of gunshots made an arrest and seized several guns and marijuana.

On Sunday, patrolling NOPD officers heard gunshots near the intersection of Michoud Boulevard and Expedition Drive and investigated.    

They saw two black vehicles leaving the area and stopped them for investigation.    

The NOPD says visible in plain sight inside the vehicles were several firearms.

A search warrant was obtained for the vehicles and the search found five firearms, ammunition, and a quantity of marijuana in individual bags.

Police arrested 22-year-old Raheim Bacchus.

He was charged with illegally possessing a firearm in connection with possessing illegal drugs, Illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and with illegal possession of narcotics.

Two other suspects were issued Municipal Summonses for the illegal discharge of firearms.
