NEW ORLEANS — A teenager is dead and a young boy was hospitalized after gunshots were fired at them in the intersection of Freret and Sixth Streets Saturday afternoon, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The shooting happened around 4:47 p.m. when the 17-year-old Rickey Hamilton and the child "were in a vehicle near the intersection of Freret and Sixth when an unknown subject or subjects opened fire on them," police said.
NOPD said Hamilton was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. The child is in stable condition.
