NEW ORLEANS — A woman was shot and killed in the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway on Wednesday, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Officers said the woman, later identified by the coroner as Coriana Legget, 28, suffered from "gunshot wounds," and was found "unresponsive in a parking lot of a business."
The department said, "officers also quickly detained an adult female person of interest for questioning in the incident."
NOPD said they got the call around 3:58 p.m. and confirmed the woman's death at 4:21 p.m.
Initially, NOPD reported that the victim was a man but later revised that report.
Officers said when they arrived, the woman was declared dead on the scene.
No further information is available and the investigation is ongoing.
