NEW ORLEANS — UPDATE: The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim on Tuesday, Aug. 27, as 47-year-old Richard L. Milton, who died as a result from a gunshot wound.
A man is dead after a shooting in Central City on Saturday, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The incident happened in the 3700 block of Washington Ave. in the Sixth District. Police said a call reporting shots fired in the area came in at 2:48 p.m.
They said a man was shot at least once. He was found unresponsive lying in a courtyard, NOPD said.
He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
NOPD said they are investigating the shooting as a homicide. No suspects have been identified.
