NOPD: Man arrested in killing of 15-year-old

NOPD said Buggage faces one count each of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

NEW ORLEANS — A man was arrested in connection to the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy near Evans Playground last week, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Police arrested Yuan N. Buggage of Chalmette on Wednesday. Buggage is accused of killing 15-year-old Tyvien Jirouard and injuring another man on Monday, Jul. 29.

NOPD said the shooting happened in the 2100 block of Sonia Street while the Sophie B. Wright football team was practicing on the field.

Following an investigation, NOPD Homicide detectives identified Buggage as the suspect in the incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

NOPD said Buggage faces one count each of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

"Buggage was found to be incarcerated in the Orleans Parish Justice Center on previous charges and was subsequently re-booked on the additional charges," NOPD said in a release.
