NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 90 Eastbound near the O’Keefe Avenue exit.
Authorities said officers responded to the elevated highway at about 1:00 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck. The victim was found unresponsive on the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene by New Orleans EMS.
The vehicle involved reportedly fled the scene, police said.
The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of the family by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office.
U.S. 90 Eastbound was closed for several hours with traffic being diverted at the O’Keefe exit as the investigation was underway.
