NEW ORLEANS — A local DJ known as 'DJ Hardhead' turned himself in on Wednesday after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Police arrested Warren Murphy III on charges of first-degree rape. The charges stem from an incident earlier this year and follow a lengthy investigation by the Sex Crime Division.
In October, Murphy was arrested on three counts of domestic abuse battery and one count of domestic abuse aggravated assault. The U.S. Marshals Task Force also assisted with the investigation. Officers said his ex-girlfriend reported that Murphy allegedly assaulted her and threatened her with a gun after an argument in July.
NOPD's Sex Crimes Unit determined there was probable cause to issue charges against Murphy and continued the investigation.
Murphy was booked into the Orleans Justice Center. No further information is available at this time.
