Video shows store employee shooting at armed robbery suspect in New Orleans East incident

According to police, the shooting happened in the 8400 Blk of S I-10 Service Road.

NEW ORLEANS — Surveillance video reveals the tense moments leading up to a fatal shooting during an armed robbery at a convenience store in New Orleans East.

The shooting happened in the 8400 Blk of S I-10 Service Road around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The store employee told WWL Louisiana that two young people walked in with guns and demanded cash. One juvenile suspect was killed in the incident. The other suspect was identified by police as 18-year-old Teony Juarez.

The video is heavily blurred to censor graphic elements. The video shows two suspects entering the store, with one brandishing a weapon at the store clerk. The employee is seen complying as the suspect grabs cash. After taking the cash, the suspect moves within the store.

The footage then shows the employee retrieving a firearm and firing at the suspects. One suspect collapses to the floor with visible movement near the weapon and their head. The employee then fires again.

Police said the juvenile suspect was fatally shot, while the second suspect, Juarez, was wounded. Juarez was later arrested and charged with:

 Juarez was shot once by the store clerk. 

At this time, the store clerk has not been charged. 

Juarez was booked into Orleans Parish Prison and charged with the following:

  • Armed robbery
  • Armed robbery; use of a Firearm
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
  • Illegal use of Weapons or dangerous instrumentalities 

The case remains under investigation.
