On Monday, a Jefferson Parish deputy arrested a driver after a chase. The incident also sent another driver and a deputy to the hospital.

METAIRIE, La. — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office began an investigation on Tuesday after a fatal two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a man in Metairie, La., on Tuesday evening.

According to JPSO, deputies were called to the scene located at the intersection of Purdue and Meadowdale just after 6:30 p.m.

The investigation alleged that a motorcycle struck the side of an SUV at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist suffered a severe head injury and later died at the hospital.

The driver of the SUV and a passenger suffered minor injuries.

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said impairment is not currently suspected on the part of the SUV driver, who voluntarily provided a blood sample for toxicology.  Toxicology tests will be conducted on the motorcycle driver as part of an autopsy.
