Woman wanted in Washington Parish tampers with ankle monitor in Mississippi, warrant issued

Authorities said Letesha Smith cut off the monitoring device on Tuesday night.

WASHINGTON PARISH, La. — An arrest warrant was issued for a woman who cut off her ankle monitor in Mccomb, Mississippi, according to the Washington Parish Sheriff.

Authorities said Letesha Smith cut off the monitoring device on Tuesday night. Smith is wanted on charges of armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping, and purse snatching, according to the Assured Supervision Accountability Program (ASAP ankle monitoring).

"She was ordered to wear the ankle monitor device by the 22nd JDC court in Washington parish. The court and the Bail agent have been notified," the release said.

Smith will be charged with simple escape, tampering with an electronic monitoring device, and bail jumping.
