NEW ORLEANS — Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting they say happened in the East Friday night.

According to initial reports, a man was shot in the back in the 7000 block of Read Boulevard, near the I-10 Service Road intersection in the Little Woods neighborhood.

Police said the man was shot just around 9:30 p.m. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition is currently unlisted.

The investigation is now on, NOPD officials said. They have not named a suspect nor a potential motive at this time.

The incident has been classified as an aggravated battery by shooting.

Last weekend, police opened up four investigations into Saturday and Sunday shootings in New Orleans East alone, in which one 18-year-old man was killed and three other men injured.
