2 men shot in French Quarter, NOPD investigates

The victims were taken to the hospital by EMS.

NEW ORLEANS — Detectives with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating after two men were shot in the French Quarter following a verbal altercation.

According to the NOPD, the shooting happened at about 12:22 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Royal Street and St. Ann Street.   

They say the unknown suspect and one of the victims got into a verbal altercation when the suspect produced a gun and fired several shots striking both victims in the body. The shooter then fled the scene.

The victims were taken to the hospital by EMS. At this time their condition is unknown.
