Man shot dead on Bourbon Street, NOPD reports

"Officers located the victim lying near the intersection of St. Louis Street and Bourbon Street. EMS arrived on scene and took the victim to the hospital," NOPD said

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide on Bourbon Street.

It happened in the early morning hours on Saturday.

“At about 3:55 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers were flagged down in about a call of a shot person at the location. Officers located the victim lying near the intersection of St. Louis Street and Bourbon Street. EMS arrived on scene and transported the New Orleans man to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased,” said an NOPD report.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 26-year-old Andre K. Preston.

This is the second homicide the NOPD is investigating within five hours of each other.

The first homicide NOPD is investigating happened at about 9:51 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of Choctaw Street.

There, the responding officer found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

The Orleans Parish coroner identified the victim as 41-year-old Sidney Powell.
