BATON ROUGE, La. — A Baton Rouge judge sentenced one of the three men charged in last year's shooting at a homecoming party outside of Southern University's campus to 2.5 years. District Judge Brad Myers sentenced Eric Miles Moss, 25, to 30 months in prison on Wednesday, Oct.18, as part of a plea deal Myers agreed to.
According to our partners at The Advocate, the charge was reduced for Moss, who faced 11 charges of attempted murder and one count of handling machine guns. Prosecutors said they agreed to dismiss the charges in return for Moss' confession to plead guilty.
Officials say Moss was credited for the year he spent in jail waiting trial. The other two defendants, Jaicedric Albert Issac Williams, 25, and Daryl Eric Stansberry, 28, face the same charges. Williams, said to be the alleged triggerman in the shooting, faces charges for the illegal use of a gun during a crime of violence and possession of a stolen firearm, according to The Advocate.
11 people were injured outside of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity house last year.
Trial dates for the three are scheduled for Feb.26.
