SLIDELL, La. — The Slidell Police Department arrested a man for installing a hidden camera in his home's guest bathroom.
Police say that last month, a babysitter found a hidden camera disguised as a smoke detector in the home of 31-year-old Jonathan Bethancourt.
The babysitter took the camera to the Slidell Police Department after finding it. When investigators searched Bethancourt’s home, they found another hidden camera and other evidence.
According to Slidell PD, Bethancourt also had cameras at his condominium in Orange Beach, Alabama.
"There is no indication that Bethancourt placed cameras in other locations," police said.
Bethancourt is charged with eleven (11) counts of video voyeurism. He was booked into the Slidell City Jail on May 29 and was later transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail where he has since posted bond.
The investigation is still ongoing. Slidell Police says they are working with federal and Alabama authorities because the investigation crosses state lines.
