LULING, La. — A man wanted for the murder of a woman in Houston was arrested in St. Charles Parish on Friday, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Tristian Sanders, 26, was arrested after he was found at a home in the 600 Block of Lac Verret Drive in Luling. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office called for a SWAT team to assist in his arrest.

He was taken into custody on a murder warrant issued by the Houston Police Department, state police said.

Sanders was a fugitive "wanted for felony charges", the sheriff's office said in a release.

According to the City of Houston, Sanders is facing charges for the fatal shooting of Vanity Williams, 34, on Aug. 2.

Sanders was booked into the St. Charles Parish Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Texas.

Sheriff Champagne said, “I want to thank our SWAT Team and all assisting personnel for putting together the operation on such short notice and executing the apprehension of the fugitive without incident. Special attention was given to the operations plan beforehand to maximize the protection of the residents in the area and to minimize the risk of injury to others as well.”
