Texas man dies after crashing his car into electrical poles in Plaquemines Parish, LSP says

BELLE CHASSE, La. — A Texas man is dead after a crash in Plaquemines Parish, according to Louisiana State Police. 

State police said the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Belle Chasse. The accident claimed the life of 22-year-old Chance Dickerson of Lubbock, Texas.

Troopers said Dickerson was driving a 2008 Nissan Z on LA 23 near Shady Oaks Lane when his car "ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox and two electrical poles," according to a release.

Dickerson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash but suffered serious injuries. He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

State police said the investigation is ongoing and toxicology samples were taken for analysis.
