LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. — A bicyclist is dead after being hit by a truck on Tuesday in Lafourche Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

The crash claimed the life of 60-year-old Carl Guidry of Golden Meadow. State police said the accident happened on Highway 3235 near La Salette Drive around 7 p.m.

Troopers said Guidry was on his bike attempting to cross LA Hwy 3235. At the same time, a 2014 Dodge 2500 was headed north and hit Guidry.

"For reasons still under investigation, Guidry failed to yield to the approaching Dodge and was struck," a release said.

Guidry suffered fatal injuries and died on the scene. The driver of the Dodge was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

State police said the driver of the Dodge was not suspected of being impaired and provided a breath sample that showed no alcohol was detected.

The crash remains under investigation.
