BAYOU BLUE, La. — A Bayou Blue man has been arrested on charges of attempted murder after authorities say he intentionally struck a man with his vehicle, leaving the victim critically injured.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office reported that Lamor Belanger, 33, was taken into custody after deputies responded to a crash around 2:45 p.m. on November 9 near a Bayou Blue school. Deputies arrived to find a male victim in critical condition, who was later airlifted to a New Orleans hospital. A woman, identified as the driver of the victim’s vehicle, was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
According to investigators, Belanger located the woman and the man near the school before allegedly ramming his vehicle into theirs. The male victim was reportedly standing beside the open door of his vehicle when Belanger struck, causing severe injuries. Witnesses say Belanger then exited his vehicle, made threats, and fled the scene. As he sped away, he reportedly struck and damaged a bystander’s mini bike.
Deputies later found Belanger’s abandoned vehicle and apprehended him nearby. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux on charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property. His bail is set at $150,000.
