KENNER, La. — On Saturday, July 27, Kenner Police responded to a report of a burglary by three armed and masked men in the 5300 block of Toby Lane.
According to a Kenner PD report, the owner reported that he left his residence in the morning hours as an adult family member was upstairs asleep in a bedroom.
A short time later when he returned to the house he found a rear exterior door open. He then discovered a handgun and jewelry to be missing from his bedroom police said.
“A review of interior residential cameras revealed that three masked males, armed with an AK-style rifle and a handgun, had entered the residence through the unlocked rear door. Based on the actions of the suspects inside the residence they appeared to be familiar with the residence, stealing a handgun and jewelry before leaving,” Kenner PD said in a report.
Police say the resident in the upstairs bedroom was not harmed.
"Kenner detectives canvassed the surrounding neighborhood for video surveillance and were able to identify a vehicle that picked up the three suspects in the 5400 block of Craig Street," said the police report.
Using surveillance camera technology, investigators were able to identify the vehicle and the registered owner information which helped them identify the suspects.
“On Wednesday, Kenner detectives executed a search warrant at the registered owner’s residence. As a result of the execution of the search warrant detectives obtained information that developed Jesus Castillo-Ruiz, 27, New Orleans, and Kevin Alberto-Castro, 17, Houston, Texas, as two of the three suspects. Detectives also received information that the suspects had fled the state due to the pressure brought on by the investigation,” said police.
On Saturday, Kenner Police Detectives, along with NOPD, and the US Marshall’s Office Fugitive Task Force executed a search warrant in New Orleans where detectives confirmed that the suspects had fled Louisiana and were in Texas.
Arrest warrants for Jesus Castillo-Ruiz and Kevin Alberto-Castro for the crime of Aggravated Burglary have been obtained and both are wanted and their pictures are included.
