Kenner PD recovers 2 stolen cars

KENNER, La. — The Kenner Police Department says they arrested two suspects and recovered two stolen vehicles on Friday.

Police responded to a Flock security camera alert about a stolen vehicle around 2 a.m. near the I-10 and Williams Blvd. interchange.

After the alert, police units were sent to the area and found the Nissan Kick in a parking lot in the 3200 block of Williams.

"The officer observed the driver of the stolen vehicle exit it and converse with a driver of another vehicle," Kenner PD said. The second vehicle was an Alfa Romeo.

Back-up units arrived, and both drivers were arrested without incident. According to the Kenner Police Department, the suspect driving the Nissan was 17 years old, and the suspect driving the Alpha Romeo was 16 years old. Both vehicles were stolen out of New Orleans.

Police say they found illegal narcotics and a 9mm handgun inside the Nissan. The vehicle may have been involved in an armed robbery in New Orleans.

The 17-year-old was booked as an adult and charged with possession of stolen vehicle, firearm, and narcotics.

The 16-year-old  was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

"One can only wonder why two stolen vehicles and two juveniles from outside our city would come in armed and meet up at a prearranged location at 2 a.m. There is no doubt in my mind they were going to continue their criminal activity in our city. We will do what we have to do to protect our residents and their property. Once again, I am proud of the men and women of the Kenner Police Department for their smart and diligent policing," Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley said.

Anyone having any information are asked to contact the Kenner Police at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
