KENNER, La. — A Kenner mother and daughter beat and stabbed a woman who came to their home looking for a fight on Sunday, according to Kenner Police.

Police said the victim is 24 years old and suffered 10 cuts, puncture wounds and lost consciousness after she was hit several times with a baseball bat, according to our partners at Nola.com.

Officers identified the mother as Arlene Thompson, 46, and her daughter, Kaysha Thompson, 21. They said Kaysha Thompson and the victim had been arguing over an unidentified man over the phone.

The two were booked with attempted second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

Kenner police said the 24-year-old victim went to Thompson's house in the 2600 block of Phoenix Street on Sunday, Oct. 29 to fight around 7 p.m., when Kaysha Thompson and her mother answered the door armed, a spokesperson from the department told Nola.com. Officers reported Kaysha Thompson had a knife and Arlene Thompson carried a baseball bat.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and suffered a punctured lung, an arrest report showed.

During the fight, officers said Kaysha Thompson stabbed the victim several times while her mother hit the woman in the face and body with a bat. The victim was able to get inside of her car and drive off, but the mother ran after the car and shattered the rear windshield, authorities told Nola.com.

Kaysha and Arlene Thompson were arrested hours later and Arlene faces additional charges of aggravated second-degree battery and simple criminal damage to property.

On Wednesday, the two were held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna where their bond was set.

Kaysha Thompson's bail was set at $260,000. Her mother Arlene Thompson's bail was set at $335,500 and was held without bail as a fugitive in another jurisdiction.

No further information on the case is available at this time.
