JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Two men were arrested after a police chase from Jefferson Parish into New Orleans on Monday.
The chase started around 5:50 p.m. when officers were told about a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of Airline Drive.
JPSO deputies found the vehicle near the Jefferson Highway and Monticello Avenue intersection and tried to conduct a traffic stop.
According to JPSO, the vehicle’s driver did not stop and led deputies on a pursuit that went into the city of New Orleans.
During the chase, the suspects stopped near the intersection of S. Claiborne and Jefferson Avenue, and deputies tried to approach the suspects.
One of the deputies fired his weapon at the driver multiple times but no one was shot.
After shots were fired, the chase continued until the suspects crashed into several poles near S. Miro and Joseph.
One deputy was shocked by an electrical line. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
JPSO says the New Orleans Police Department will be handling the investigation into the deputy’s discharge of his service weapon.
