SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. — An appeal by a former district court judge in St. John Parish convicted of groping his teenage daughters' friends was rejected Thursday, obliging the former jurist to serve a 14-year prison sentence.
Former Judge Jeff Perilloux, 56, had been convicted of groping his teenage daughter's close friends, the three victims were between 14 and 17 years old when the crimes were reportedly committed.
According to NOLA.com, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal unanimously rejected each of Perilloux's claims which charged jurors, prosecutors and the presiding judge with misconduct during his trial.
"These actions and behavoirs were evidence of the most unusual relationship the defendant sought to cultivate with the victims over an extended period of time that included his campaign for judge and his service on the bench," The ruling said. "The trial court believed the defendant's methodical process was a classic, textbook example of grooming."
Perilloux had been out of prison on a $300,000 bond for a brief period in August, but he had been ordered back into prison, after a state supreme court decision that month.
According to online records, Perrilloux has been imprisoned at David Wade Correctional Center in Homer, La. since then.
