Washington Parish school board member, candidate preliminary cause of death released

Police said they found the body of 67-year-old Frankie L. Crosby Sr. in his car, a release said.

FRANKLINTON, La. — A Washington Parish School Board member and candidate for the town of Franklinton Alderman was confirmed dead on Sunday afternoon, according to the Franklinton Police Department.

Police found the body of 67-year-old Frankie L. Crosby Sr. in his car.

Officers said they received a call about a "suspected death in the 1400 block of Parker Street." Initially, Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown told WWL Louisiana that the department was investigating Crosby's death as a homicide.

On Wednesday, the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office said the preliminary cause of death for Crosby was an overdose of fentanyl and cocaine. This was determined through toxicology results.

Police found no evidence "which would lead investigators to believe foul play was involved."

The Washington Parish School System issued a statement following his death.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved school board member, Mr. Frankie Crosby. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. Please join us in keeping them in your prayers as we honor his memory and the impact he made on our community.
