Interim NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick to kick off National Night Out event on Oct. 17

The 40th Annual Night Out Against Crime with a free event filled with food, music and fun at the Milne Recreation Center on Tuesday.

NEW ORLEANS โ€” Starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday night, the New Orleans Police Department and the City of New Orleans will kick off the 40th Annual Night Out Against Crime with a free event at the Milne Recreation Center (5420 Franklin Avenue).

According to the NOPD, Interim Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick will welcome public to the event featuring live music, food and drinks, family-friendly activities, First Responder representatives, various community resources and special appearance by NOPD's Mounted and K-9 Units.

Night Out Against Crime brings together residents, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials to raise crime prevention awareness, reduce crime and increase support for local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

 This event will serve as the kickoff event for multiple neighborhood events also taking place across the city.
