I-10 traffic snarled near St. Bernard Ave. after report of shots fired; overturned car

The incident occurred during the city's busy rush hour when traffic headed west on I-10 is already usually backed up.

NEW ORLEANS — The two right lanes are blocked on I-10 West at Saint Bernard Avenue due to an incident where shots were reportedly fired  and there was a crash on the interstate. Police had a series of traffic cones and there is an overturned vehicle in the center lane. WWL Louisiana's traffic map shows congestion has reached Elysian Fields Avenue.

There was no initial word on any injuries as police were still sorting out the situation. Multiple police units are on the scene.

The incident occurred during the city's busy rush hour when traffic headed west on I-10 is already usually backed up due to vehicles trying to get on the Claiborne flyover headed to the west bank.
