Honduran man accused of raping teenage girl, arrested for robbery, stabbing in Kenner

While on the scene of the stabbing, Kenner PD officers spotted a man, covered in blood, who they say was positively identified as the perpetrator in the stabbing.

KENNER, La. — A Honduran man is behind bars in Kenner after being accused of stabbing and robbing a man, and who is allegedly connected to the rape of a 14-year-old girl.

Kenner police said they arrested 19-year-old Angel Matias Castellanos-Orellana on Sunday after responding to reports of an attempted robbery and stabbing.

Officers were dispatched to reports of a stabbing in the 2600 block of Phoenix Street where investigators learned that the victim was getting out of his vehicle when he was allegedly robbed by a man with a knife.

During the robbery, police say Castellanos-Orellana stabbed the victim multiple times, including in his face and his back.

The victim is in stable condition at an area hospital.

While on the scene of the stabbing, Kenner PD officers spotted a man, covered in blood, who they say was positively identified as the perpetrator in the stabbing, Castellanos-Orellana.

After Kenner police took Castellanos-Orellana into custody, they say they discovered he is also wanted for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.

Castellanos-Orellana was arrested for Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, First Degree Rape, and Aggravated Assault. A Federal “I.C.E.” detainer was issued as well.
