Man shot dead in Metairie on Christmas Eve

The sheriff's office says investigators do not have a motive or suspect. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.

METAIRIE, La. — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened early in the morning on Christmas Eve.

“At approximately 5:00 am, deputies responded to the 4400 block of Wabash Street after hearing gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they located an unresponsive adult male, on the ground, inside the parking lot of a business. The victim was suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene,” JPSO spokesperson Sergeant Brandon Veal.

Veal says investigators do not yet have a motive or suspect at this time.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
