Homicide investigation underway in Metairie, sheriff reports

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened Sunday night in Metairie.

METAIRIE, La. — A homicide investigation is underway in Jefferson Parish.

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened Sunday night in Metairie.

“Around 10:30 pm, deputies responded to a report of a shooting that occurred in the 1600 block of Colony Place. Upon arrival, they located an unresponsive adult male on the ground outside a residence. He was suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene,” said Sheriff Lopinto in a statement.

The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office later identified the man killed as Anthony Pierre, 49, of Metairie.

Detectives are still working to determine a motive or suspect.
