EVANGELINE PARISH, La. — A man from Gretna wanted on warrants out of New Orleans, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies in Evangeline Parish after he led them on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash and the discovery of equipment used to counterfeit money.

It happened Thursday at about 2:00 p.m. North on Interstate I-49 in Evangeline Parish. According to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Patrick Hundley of Gretna led deputies on a chase that hit speeds of 130 miles per hour.

“After running off the roadway several times and nearly striking numerous vehicles, including one of the Deputies units he continued to flee,” EPSO said.

“Hundley exited at the Highway 167 exit at over 100 mph.  When he came up to the intersection, he locked up his brakes causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and become airborne striking the embankment on the side of the roadway.  His vehicle came to rest, and Hundley attempted to flee on foot.  Deputies were able to apprehend Hundley after a short foot pursuit.”
