NEW ORLEANS — Police in Gonzales arrested eight suspects Thursday night, four of whom are from the New Orleans Metro Area, in connection with a manhunt traced back to Harrison County, Mississippi, according to our partners at WBRZ.
The manhunt began after two of the suspects allegedly shot a police officer in Mississippi.
Gonzales Police released a statement on Friday regarding the arrest:
"This morning, Detectives from the Gonzales Police Department and Gulfport Police Department continue their investigation of last evening’s traffic stop and arrest of 8 individuals, two of which had fugitive warrants from Harris County.
At this time the investigation remains active and there are no further updates anticipated today. For questions on the Harris County and Vicksburg warrants, please contact the local law enforcement agencies."
The eight suspects were identified as:
- Logan Delana, 27 (wanted in Harrison County)
- Blake Menefee, 20 (wanted in Harrison County)
- Susan Zeringue, 40
- Raven Guidry, 32, from Thibodeaux
- Elcee Guillard, 36, from Westwego
- Jerry Benoit, 33, from Thibodeaux
- Richard Morris, 38, from New Orleans
- Sidney Nelson, 39
Each were arrested on a number of different charges, including aggravated flight from an officer, illegal possession of stolen property, illegal possession of stolen firearms, and other drug-related charges.
