NEW ORLEANS — A French Quarter shop owner is in the hospital after a man assaulted the merchant with a railroad spike.
It happened Saturday evening in the 800 block of Decatur Street.
The New Orleans Police Department says the suspect, police identified as Leif Rosell, hurled a brick through the window of the victim's establishment. When the victim came out from the business and confronted the perpetrator a physical altercation ensued.
Police say that is when Rosell brandished a railroad spike and then struck the victim in the head before he fled the scene.
The victim was then transported to the hospital with head trauma, while police apprehended Rosell. He will be booked with Aggravated Battery by Cutting according to police.
