Hammond man arrested after talking to high school students about his 'body count' deputies say

At the time of the complaint, deputies said McKnight was no longer employed at any school within Tangipahoa Parish.

HAMMOND, La. — A Hammond man and former educator was arrested Tuesday after a school reported inappropriate behavior between him and high school students, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

Cameron McKnight, 26, was arrested in connection to several sex crimes and faces one count of indecent behavior with juveniles and one count of prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student.

The sheriff's office was called on Feb. 27 when they received a complaint about McKnight's behavior. McKnight was a substitute teacher and part-time athletic coach.

Deputies said he "had been speaking with students about his “body count,” referring to the number of women with whom he had prior sexual relations."

Deputies said McKnight was no longer employed at any school within Tangipahoa Parish at the time of the complaint.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
