Former Bogalusa firefighter sentenced for sex crimes against nursing home resident

Investigators found nude photos of an elderly woman being touched inappropriately on Applewhite's phone.

NEW ORLEANS — A former Bogalusa firefighter was sentenced for sex crimes involving an elderly woman.

The District Attorney for St. Tammany parish says 39-year-old Brandon Applewhite pleaded guilty to two charges: one count of Sexual Battery of a victim with a physical or mental disability and one count of Molestation of a victim with a physical or mental disability.

Investigators found nude photos of an elderly woman being touched inappropriately on Applewhite's phone.

Text messages also revealed that he had asked an employee of the nursing home where the woman lived to send him the photos.

Applewhite was sentenced to thirty years in prison. After he is released, the DA says he will have to register as a sex offender.
