ST CHARLES, La. — A 19-year-old woman was arrested Friday morning after crashing into a State Trooper's unit on I-10 west, according to the State Police.

The Louisiana State Police department said a trooper parked their unit to help a driver of a disabled car change a tire around 1:30 a.m., when a 2019 Nissan Maxima slammed into the rear of the unit.

The trooper parked in the left lane of I-10 west on the Bonnet Carre Spillway near milepost 215 in Norco, La. Troopers identified the driver as Briana Dunlap of St. Gabriel, La, who stopped briefly before continuing to drive west on I-10.

With the help of St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Dunlap was stopped a short time later.

State Troopers said Dunlap showed signs of impairment and when a breath sample was taken, she was over the legal limit for a person under 21. She was booked into St. John Parish Correctional Center for a first offense of underage DWI and issued a citation for hit and run.

There were no injuries from the incident.

Louisiana State Troopers remind drivers that last year over 11,250 people were arrested for DWI in Louisiana and impaired drivers can dial *LSP (*577) to reach the nearest State Police Troop location or by calling 911.
