Ponchatoula drug bust results in two arrested on a list of drug charges

PONCHATOULA, La. — A narcotics bust on a home in Ponchatoula lands a man and woman in jail after a warrant search turned up a variety of fatal drugs easily accessible by a child present in the house.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the arrests were the result of a two-month-long investigation, thanks to assistance from Hammond Police and Ponchatoula Police.

Jasmine Jones, 36, and Mayha Tucker, 26, were booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Friday, on one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Hydrocodone, and Ecstasy and one count of Possession of CDS while in the Presence of a Minor, as well as two counts of Possession of a Firearm while Possessing a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

Jones has an additional two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

A warrant was served on a home on 4th Street. At the home detectives discovered six pounds of marijuana, ecstasy, and hydrocodone as well as two handguns, several iPhones, and more than $4,000 in cash.

All of the items were in common areas accessible to a 4-year-old child present in the home.

Tucker, who was in the home at the time of the search warrant, was taken into custody then. Jones was arrested during a traffic stop.
