Double shooting on Canal Street, NOPD reports

The shooting happened during a busy Saturday night when crowds of people and visitors walk the streets in that area.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Police are investigating a double shooting that happened at a busy Canal Street intersection Saturday night.

It happened on Canal Street at Exchange Place according to an initial NOPD report.

The NOPD says they got the call about the shooting at about 8:54 p.m. A 28-year-old man and a 35-year-old man both suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital by EMS.

The 28-year-old is listed in stable condition, but the other man’s condition is unknown at this time.

The shooting happened during a busy Saturday night when crowds of people and visitors walk the streets in that area. Onlookers gathered to watch as detectives worked the crime scene.

Investigators on the scene gathered evidence from an SUV with a shattered passenger side window. Police are still working to determine what happened.
