Double murder-suicide claims lives of couple and child in Livingston Parish, sheriff says

Deputies said the murders likely happened late Friday or early Saturday.

HAMMOND, La. — The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a double murder-suicide in Hammond on Monday.

According to the LPSO, deputies were dispatched to a W. Bates Road address in Hammond which falls under Livingston Parish jurisdiction despite Hammond being a city in Tangipahoa.

The call was received just before 8 a.m.

Upon arrival, LPSO Sheriff Jason Ard says three bodies were located, including a man, woman and juvenile.

Later in the day, WWL Louisiana media partner WBRZ in Baton Rouge reported that Sheriff Ard said 49-year-old Jenny Williamson shot her husband, 49-year-old Steven Williamson and an 8-year-old who was living with the couple.

Deputies said the murders likely happened late Friday or early Saturday.

Ard also told the media that the couple is not from Livingston Parish and had only lived at the residence for less than a year.

"This is not one of those types of scenes you want to see. Unfortunately, it happened," explained Ard. "Any time you see these type of scenes you believe something's got to be going on in order for this to happen. Everybody wants to know why, and I just can't answer that."
