Deputies in Tangipahoa Parish search for the “Garbage Can Bandit” and need your help

The sheriff’s office says the unidentified man went into the Dollar General store; took a garbage can filled it with various merchandise without paying.

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office needs your help identifying a man they dubbed the “Garbage Can Bandit.”

The sheriff’s office says on September 18th, the unidentified man went into the Dollar General store in the 19000 block of Highway 22 in Ponchatoula and was seen taking a large garbage can from a shelf and then filling it with various merchandise and then walking out of the store without paying.

They believe the same man committed the same crime at the Dollar General in the 27000 block of Highway 22 on September 23 and at the Family Dollar on Highway 22 the next day.

Sheriff Gerald Sticker is asking anyone with information that could identify the man or his whereabouts, to contact the Criminal Investigations Office at 985-345-6150.
