NEW ORLEANS — A man was arrested in connection to the quadruple shooting on Canal Street that left four people injured during Bayou Classic weekend, according to the New Orleans Police Department. Police arrested 30-year-old Chandler Davenport.
Davenport faces several charges. NOPD said he was one of two shooters in the incident. The second shooter is still on the run, and their identity was not disclosed.
Officers with the New Orleans Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 700 block of Canal Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1 authorities said.
When officers arrived, they discovered four people suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services transported the victims to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.
Police said the two shooters started fighting each other, then pulled guns and shot at each other, hitting innocent bystanders.
Davenport has a criminal history in Maryland and Baton Rouge, NOPD said.
Police have not released additional details about the incident or identified any suspects as the investigation is ongoing.
