BOGALUSA, La. — A teen was arrested and booked for first-degree murder Monday after a shooting outside Bogalusa High School killed a 14-year-old student
"Detectives have secured the arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile, for his involvement in the in the homicide," Bogalusa Police said on Monday. "His charges range from First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, two counts of accessory after the fact of attempted first degree murder."
The shooting happened during an evening basketball game against Covington High School, officers who were stationed at the game reacted to the shots from outside. A 14-year-old boy was killed in the shooting, which also hurt a 13-year-old boy.
Two others were arrested and booked on charges murder charges and accessory to murder charges. Bogalusa Police said they arrested JaMichael Spikes, 21, hours after the shooting booking him for obstruction of justice and eventually for attempted second degree murder, too.
Bogalusa Police also said they arrested Caleb Moss, 18, on Sunday for obstruction of justice and as an accessory to first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.
The 16-year-old was charged with 2 counts of first degree murder. The teen's name was not released by police since he is a minor.
The acting police chief of Bogalusa said on Friday that the 13-year-old hurt in the shooting was at home recovering.
"Numerous additional arrest warrants have been secured for other individuals associated with this incident and several more arrests are expected in the near future," The Bogalusa Police Department said on Monday.
