BATON ROUGE, La. — A Baton Rouge police officer was arrested on Tuesday for negligent homicide after running a red light while apparently racing toward gun shots.
According to WBRZ, on Oct. 20, an officer ran through a red light and crashed into other cars, killing one man: Caleb Chappetta, 38.
Officer Sharmaine Buckley, 28, was arrested and charged with negligent homicide, negligent injuring and reckless operation, for crashing into Chappetta's car.
Buckley had apparently been responding to a call a few blocks away where officers said they had been shot at and returned fire.
Two other police officers were injured in the crash.
